From the recording White Rock Lake
I wrote the lyrics as part of a series of urban landscape poems done on location in Dallas. This is a scene I witnessed at a local park. I also wrote the music. I play a 1927 Weissenborn and sing. Chirag Gokani plays a Fender Precision bass.
Lyrics
Clusters of new leaves
filter sunlight like families
of translucent children
while mothers sit like
the long curved trunks
of the circle of trees
