Solo shows and new CD

I have been performing solo since December, and I really like it!  Last Saturday I performed for a total of five hours, first at Park Lane Whole Foods and then at an art opening at the Bath House Cultural Center.  It went great, and by the time it was over I was sort of in a very aware state.  Tomorrow I am going into the recording studio (Audio Dallas) to record more songs for my upcoming solo CD!  Then in July I have booked four gigs in Taos, New Mexico, with a good possibility of a fifth.  Three are at the Adobe Bar at the historic Taos Inn and one is at Taos Mesa Brewing.  More news later!

solo show

For the time being, I will be playing solo shows.  If you are female and an excellent singer, please get in touch.

Amy and Isabel

Amy had a baby!  Tallulah Pearl Harms!

In Amy's absence, Isabel Toledo will perform with me.  I am very happy to find a performing partner.  She has a great voice.  In her day job, she teaches Spanish at St. Mark's School of Texas.

Back to school and upcoming gigs

I am back at school, teaching physics and AP Physics at St. Mark's School of Texas.  It's a big job, very time consuming, but Amy and I still managed to play two gigs recently, one at the Wine Therapist, the other at Stoney's Wine Lounge.  Both successful and a lot of fun.  We are feeling very good when we perform, confident and relaxed.

Amy is pregnant and will be performing a lot less in the coming months.  She is very excited and looking forward to raising a child with her husband Ben.  I am exploring options for a new singing partner in her absence.  If you read this blog, live in the Dallas area, and want to be a singer in a duo, please let me know.

In the next few weeks I will be performing twice, once at Dia de los Muertos art opening at the Bath House Cultural Center on October 11th from 5 until 6, and once at the Global Village Market at Greenland Hills United Methodist Church on November 7th from 12 to 1:30.  Hope to see you there.

the return and the interview

After a wonderful 42 day trip, we have finally returned to Dallas.  We spent time in New Mexico, Colorado, Iowa, and Illinois.  We saw kids and grandkids and friends.  I also wrote eight songs, both music and lyrics.  I made a video on the back porch of one of our New Mexico houses. You can find it under videos on this website.  The beauty we lived in on the our trip was truly inspirational.

Kunal Dixit and Tim Simenc, recent graduates of St. Mark's, made a professional quality video interview about my musical origins and inspirations that I posted on the home page of this website.  Enjoy!

The Good, the Bad, and the Good

Something good: I'm on vacation in New Mexico.  We went into the Taos Mesa Brewery and on a whim I got the email address of their booking agent.  I sent him an email and told him about my website and the new CD and asked if he had any cancellations or spaces for a possible performance.  He emailed back and offered me an afternoon slot on the patio on July 4th.  Pretty cool because they get big time acts in there.

Something bad: Through miscommunication when I arrived I had no sound reinforcement.  I played for about 30 minutes, realized no one could hear what I was doing, and stopped playing.  Hmmm

Something good:  I've written three new songs on this trip.  One of them appears in a YouTube video that I will post.
